I’m Shedding Pink & Green Tears

It’s not often that I complain about our military life.  I really have little to whine about: we’ve been exceptionally lucky in the past eleven years since Tony commissioned and graduated, the anniversaries of which we’re commemorating today and tomorrow, respectively. Everywhere you look you’ll see talk of how much servicemembers sacrifice, and their spouses … Continue reading »

The Carpet Project

I’ve mentioned several times how one of our cats was having litterbox issues, and for me it all came to a head on Friday.  Despite the fact that I’d repeatedly steam cleaned the soiled areas, and sprayed it with an all-natural cat deterrent, and laid plastic bags and paper bags and crinkly textures over the … Continue reading »

You Know Someone In Your House Likes Space When…

…your fridge is covered with magnets to learn about the ABCs as well as satellite launchers. It might be annoying to have to dress up to go to a space conference, but at least Tony came home with a bunch of swag for The Critters, inappropriate magnets and all.

Critter Conversation #60: His ASU Brings All The Moms To The Yard

Tony’s attending a professional conference at a swanky local hotel today, and he came home yesterday informing me that he’d have to dress for the occasion.  This meant putting on his dress blues, or as I suppose it’s called now, the Army Service Uniform.  That he has to buy updated uniform components and accessories so … Continue reading »

Just Another Manic Thursday

Yesterday was rough.  I was still sick, Tony was just starting to feel sick, and the sky was dreary and grey.  It drizzled off and on throughout the day, and when we went to bed a steady rain began beating down upon the roof.  It has always been my inclination to sing the “Rain, rain, … Continue reading »

Spring Break Stay-Cation

The Critters both had this past week off of school for Spring Break, and because Tony is (still) gone and out of the country I originally planned to just stay bottled up inside our house and wallow in the fact that we’re just over halfway through this five-week separation.  (Yes, he was home for four … Continue reading »

Pinterest-Inspired: Our Numbered Houses

When I joined Pinterest last fall, one of the early pins I found was this one.  I knew immediately this was something I wanted to do for our home – and despite my inherent anti-crafty tendencies could do with relative ease. The idea percolated for awhile, as many of my plans do, but when I … Continue reading »

Sports Irony

Irony: Getting a ticket to watch your football team play against one of the best teams in the league.  Sitting at the 50 yard line in 30 degree temps for four hours.  Watching your team get ahead, then tie this team that they’re certain not to beat.  Going to the bathroom during the media time-out … Continue reading »

Busyness and Blogging Excuses

Things have been so busy – both in terms of scheduled activities and brain activities – that I haven’t even thought to sit down and write a coherent blog post lately. SO MUCH has happened in the past two (three?) weeks that I barely know where to begin, so I’ll just go for it. My … Continue reading »

Mother Nature

On Monday it was nearly 80 degrees here.  It seems PMS hits Mother Nature just as hard as it hits me, but the difference between her and me?  My mood swings only affect Tony and The Critters.  Hers…. do this. But don’t worry – it’ll be back in the mid-60s by Saturday.
