>Way-Back "When"sday

Two Years Ago: Bug, seven months old

Also… can I whine for a couple paragraphs and tell you how much I miss that bed?  This picture was taken the day after it was delivered, and we ended up being able to sleep on it for just five months before it was packed up and put into permanent storage during our tour over here.  And for one of those months I was traveling between our parents’ houses, so I didn’t even get to sleep on the super-comfy mattress or under the pretty comforter, or between the 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets for all that long. (Believe it or not, we actually have TWO sets of sheets in storage.  Unlike the single set of 200 thread-count sheets we have here.  Yes, I’m snobby about my sheets.  I spend half my life in bed, I want to be comfortable, even if I am unconscious for most of it!)

For the past 18 months Tony and I have been sleeping on our makeshift king-sized bed (two twins pushed together with a rather noticeable gap in the middle) because when we moved into this house there were no full-sized beds available to be loaned out.  And that’s fine, because we slept in the same pushed-together king-sized bed when we lived in Germany.  We’re used to it.  But the thin mattresses are government-issued and not supportive (really, I’m just happy that they were brand new).  The cheap eggcrate mattress pad isn’t really cutting it, and I miss being able to sleep in the middle of the bed without fearing that I’ll fall through.

*sigh* Soon enough, I guess.

On a separate note, I’ve been toying with the notion of starting back up with my In The Beginning and I Bearly Remember posts.  For those of you who have recently started reading and don’t know what those are, they’re both a part of my Before This Blog Began series, which chronicles the years in which Tony and I met, dated, and experienced those first two child-free years of marriage, as well as all the as-yet un-blogged about years with Bear.  It’s my goal to someday make this blog into a series of books for my children, because that’s why I blog here.  It’s not for the readers (though you know I appreciate you all), and it’s not for the money.  (Because, um, yeah.)  I don’t scrapbook the way I want to, but I do write.  Someday I want my children and their children (should they have any) to know these stories of their childhood and how they came to be.
I originally began publishing these on Saturdays, but as you can tell I’ve pretty much abandoned my Saturday posts.  I’m not actually sure why I stopped writing those, except that I have a post about our one and only Oktoberfest experience nearly ready to go, but I don’t have the pictures on my computer to show you Tony’s cow hat, or our foot-long hotdog, or Tony passed out on the train on the way home.  I kind of got stuck, but now I’m ready to pick those back up again.

So here’s my question: should I return to posting those on Saturdays, or should I give up my Wordless Wednesday/Way-Back ‘When’sday picture posts in lieu of these Way-Back ‘When’sday series instead?  It really depends on how often you want to see my posts in your reader, because I’ll be putting them up here either way.  Someday.

  1. >Either way is fine – I enjoy them all. I may not respond often but I do read them all!

  2. >I read blogs, I don't look at blogs, so Wordless Wednesdays, while fun to look at, aren't why I read here.
