>Bear’s sixth birthday dawned beautiful, clear and the perfect temperature, in the high 70s/low 80s. We couldn’t have picked a better day for Grammy’s trip to the Aquarium and the Pineapple Park.
I’ll spare you the pictures I’ve posted before, because honestly… how many times can you look at other people’s pictures of whale sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, manatees, and a dolphin show and really be interested?
Instead, I’ll show you what Bear gave herself for her sixth birthday: a trim to her bangs.
So I corrected it, though I’d promised myself I’d never do that again, because it had to be fixed.
Though this is normally the type of thing I’d give her a punishment for, I figured having to live with her bangs while she waits for them to grow out for the next eight months is punishment enough.
To our inevitable question of “Why?!” she answered, “They were bothering me.”
It’s not often that I’m at a loss for words, but I just had nothing left to say to her after this. It is what it is.
And though her birthday was subdued – Bug made it through dinner at Yoshihachi’s but went to bed as soon as we returned home and was unable to join us for dessert and presents – she was happy. After all, she’s six now.
Six.
When did that happen?
