>Tonight I went bowling with Tony’s unit’s FRG, and I came home with two turkeys. One was the Butterball special that my talented husband won for me by bowling a STRIKE when a green head pin came up in his lane.
The other was my husband himself.

Tony had organized Turkey Bowl, what will most likely become an annual event for the Soldiers and family members of 1-1. The Battalion’s FRG paid for rental shoes and three games of bowling for 68 members of the 1-1 family; there were so many of us, we took up ten lanes at the alley. When the FRG leaders came together at a Steering Committee meeting last week, the lack of RSVPs for this event was discussed, and one of the women in attendance jokingly suggested Tony wear a turkey costume to encourage more people to join us. The other ladies took the idea and ran with it; each of them pitched in the money to rent the costume from the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facility, and Tony – being the very good sport that he is – wore it almost the whole night.
In addition to the free bowling, the unit also gave out vouchers for free turkeys to those who bowled a strike when a special colored headpin worked its way into the rotation. Tony, whose bowling game was not at its best tonight (?!?) bowled one of his only strikes when such a pin showed up for him, and I’ll be cooking the turkey he won me next week for Thanksgiving!
And I told him, “No, but you’re one of the only ones brave enough to go this far to help out the unit. You might not be Special Forces, but you sure are Special.”

>I love the turkey costume!! Where can I get one for Tim? I'll make him wear it when he's acting like a turkey…so it'd get good use.
